geforce rtx 3050 ti

Traditionally, Nvidia’s GTX 1660 or 1660 Ti GPU was used in gaming laptops. Now, the RTX 3050 Ti will take over this role.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 ti is targeting budget gamers who want the taste of ray-tracing and DLSS. Although RTX 3050 Ti GPUs are less powerful than other RTX 3000 Series GPUs, they are also more affordable.

In addition, laptops with RTX 3050 or 3050 Ti are priced well below $1000. Laptops with RTX 3050 Ti are confusing to many people. In order to give you a better idea of RTX 3050 Ti’s performance, we will compare it with other affordable chips on the market.

In the meantime, here is some honest advice I can give you. RTX 3050 Ti laptops are worth your money if you are low on cash and want ray-tracing in less demanding games without breaking the bank.

Professional gamers, on the other hand, should not expect the RTX 3050 Ti to perform like other RTX 3000 Series graphics cards. In most games I’ve played, an RTX 3060 performs better than an RTX 3050 Ti.

Rtx 3050 Ti Specifications

RTX 3050 Ti is available with 2560 CUDA cores in the laptop version based on the GA107 processor. This GPU has 20 Ray-Tracing and 80 Tensor Cores.

While this GPU does not have many Ray-Tracing cores, you can take advantage of DLSS in some games because it has enough Tensor cores.

Compared to other members of its family that pack more VRAM, the RTX 3050 Ti packs only 4GB GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit interface. This laptop-based graphics card doesn’t even come close to the VRAM of the entry-level RTX 3060 chip in the RTX 3000 family.

Based on 1463MHz base clock speed and 1695MHz boost clock speed (80W power consumption), the RTX 3050 Ti has a top clock speed of 1695 MHz.

Rtx 3050 Ti Gaming Benchmark

We purchased an HP Victus 16 system with an RTX 3050 Ti GPU, a Core i5-11400H CPU, and 32GB of DDR4 memory. Even though this laptop is budget-oriented, its performance in modern games is good enough to test RTX 3050 ti.

Configuration for 1080p

The RTX 3050 Ti was tested at 1080p settings (Ray-Tracing turned off). We started with Resident Evil: Village at 1080p. Most of the time, the average frame rates were between 45 and 55 in such a demanding game. However, as soon as you turn on ray-tracing, the average frame rate drops.

If you don’t care about ray-tracing and want to play most modern games at 1080p at Max settings, the RTX 3050 Ti is the best choice.

Gaming performance is not high with the laptop version of RTX 3050 Ti. It is not yet clear if this GPU is a suitable fit for low-budget gaming PCs until the desktop version arrives.

Most games play better with the RTX 3050Ti than the RTX 2060 (laptop version). The RTX 3050 Ti can achieve 15% higher frame rates than the RTX 2060 when playing Borderlands 2 at High Settings.

There is a slight performance difference between the RTX 3050 Ti and GTX 1660 Ti in Red Dead Redemption 2. The Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti still performs poorly in RDR2 at 1080p compared with the RTX 3060.

Result Of Gaming
The laptop performs slightly better than a GTX 1660 Ti-based laptop when you play demanding games such as Resident Evil: Village or Metro Exodus. The graphics card is one of the top choices for 1080p gaming. However, it is not suitable for 1440p gaming. Because it has a limited amount of VRAM (4GB), it can’t handle higher resolutions.

Nevertheless, ray-tracing and DLSS are the reasons for people’s interest in RTX 3050 Ti. Almost all advanced games suffer from low frame rates when ray-tracing is enabled. It’s a no-go GPU if you just want to enhance your game visuals through ray tracing.

VRAM limitations make some games at 1080p Ultra-High and 1440p Ultra-High unplayable with RTX 3050 Ti. High-resolution gaming is performed much better by the GTX 1660 Ti with 6GB of VRAM than this GPU.

A decent card for gaming at 1080p with reasonable in-game settings, the RTX 3050 Ti is a decent option for 1080p gaming. In most video games, the frame rate falls below 60 fps when you increase the resolution to 1440p. It won’t support 1440p or 4K games, so you won’t be able to play them. A big deal for gamers, however, is the RTX 3050 Ti’s second-generation ray-tracing technology and DLSS 2.0 support.

With DLSS 2.0, PC games that require high frame rates can be successfully upscaled. Accordingly, we would recommend starting with the RTX 3050 Ti instead of any other entry-level card. In the end, performance is more important than reflections and shadows when you’re playing demanding titles.

Is Rtx 3050 Good For Video Editing?

NVENC video encoders are typically used on Nvidia Ampere Series graphics cards. Video encoding is handled by a dedicated graphics card rather than your CPU. Compared to older generation graphics cards, this process makes video editing and streaming much faster.

Video editors will also appreciate the fact that the RTX 3050 Ti has all the features that make a GPU effective when it comes to video editing. As a result, you can retouch your video projects or create animations on a laptop based on RTX 3050 Ti graphics.
